AMERICA - 2019
Due to the success of our 2016 “Best of the Rockies” Trip to the states which saw us to 13000 kms, 13 states over 42 days seeing absolutely the best of the rockies, we are putting together an 85 day 22,000 km trip starting late June 2019.
This trip starts in New York after sea freighting the bikes to Mainfreight, New Jersey with Main Freight/Kiwi shipping, a great organisation we have used in the past. User friendly and easy to deal with
The 2019 trip will start with a few days in New York for sight seeing before we head up to Boston, Coastal Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and up into Quebec. Down through Vermont and Up state New York we hit Pennsylvania and start some real cool rides down the Spine of the Appalachians taking in Skyline drive and the Blue Ridge parkway as well as numerous other loop rides as we make our way down through this part of the US.
There are some great sights to see as well as the cool roads, the Harley Museum and factory in York, PA, ride through Amish country, Dutch Pennsylvania. The covered bridges Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee are included as well before we hit New Orleans in good ol Louisiana.
After that some good rides in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas will eventually get us onto Route 66 across the Texas Pan handle and into New Mexico.
Santa Fe is past half way at about 55 days so now we do a loop around the rockies again in the anticlockwise direction of the 2016 trip, taking in all the best rides in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and back down into the Sierras in Northern California before shipping the bikes home out of L.A.
We do 8 of the "Top 10 US motorcycle rides in this one trip, including Route 1 Coastal Maine, The Blue Ridge parkway, the Pig Trail in Arkansas, the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina, The Beartooth highway from Cody to Red Lodge, The Needles in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and the Big Sur Highway, Coastal route 1, California.
There are lots of moving parts, not everyone can take that much time off work, we have three bikes heading up into Maine and Nova Scotia at the start of the journey, a bike joining us 2 weeks later in Washington DC, one crew finishing in New Orleans and flying home to get back to work and yet another rider joining us on a hire bike out of LA for the last 36 days circling the Rockies through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington State, Oregon and California. Plenty going on.
